About AutoCAD 3D Drawings and how to access 3D workspace

Why do we use 3D drawings?

  1. A 3D Model is a Complete object in all its Dimensions.
  2. It displays Height, Length, and width.
  3. Gives depth to the drawing.

What is one of the Key differences between 2D and 3D?

  • In a 2D mechanical drawing, you will have to individually draw every view representation of the required view.
  • A 3D drawing gives you an actual Solid model, and with all the available view representations. From the top view to the left view, front view and so on.

Below you will see how to Access the 3D workspace within AutoCAD, and some information on the available Tabs and panels within the ribbon that can be utilized for 3D modelling.

How to Access the 3D workspace environment?

  • Can click on the workspace settings in the taskbar.

In the quick access toolbar – you can access the workspace settings.

If this is not visible, you can switch it on, click on the drop down and select the workspace in the quick access toolbar.
