In this scenario under consideration a user is using AutoCAD 2024 and would like to migrate to AutoCAD LT 2025. The user decides to use the migration tool to migrate from an earlier version from AutoCAD to AutoCAD LP.
Export AutoCAD 2024 Settings.
Export Custom Settings
After specifying the location, you want to save the file in you’ll be given a message to say that it was successfully saved.
Now we use the AutoCAD LT migration tools.
You get the message that the two versions are incompatible.
If you then try to extract the .ZIP file to have a look, you find that Windows is not able to.
We now resort to 3-rd party software. Download and install 7-Zip. Run 7-Zip. Extract the .ZIP file.
If you navigate to the extracted local support folder and you will see the .CUIX file.
…\AutoCAD 2024 – English_cust_settings\C_\Users\PaulStorm\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2024\R24.3\enu\support
Open AutoCAD LT
Manage Tab > Customization Panel > User Interface
Customise User Interface > Transfer Panel > Customisations in New File > Open
Drag the workspaces into the Main Customisation File
Replace All Duplicate Elements
Now you can see the workspaces have been transferred (even the 3D workspaces).
If you were to set the workspace to one of these 3D workspaces, you would just end up with an interface that cannot find the command references and will display a cloud with a question mark instead.
