I failed to parameterize a simple chamfer profile the other day during a classroom session. I was not familiar with the revit profile family template and that it did not have a reference line for rotations, and there were no solid tools that can be used to rotate elements.
I investigated after the class, an found that one can use basic trigonometric mathematical relations to control a chamfer angle independent of the reference planes that control and flex the horizontal and vertical lines of the profile.
Clearly the Revit Profile Family Template will offer some challenges where more complex shapes are concerned. If it is required of me to attempt more complex flexing profile shapes, I will revert to trigonometric mathematical relations from the beginning.
