Revit – How to Show Overhead Lines for a Stair in a Floor Plan

In this video, we consider the display of stairs in a plan view. Plan views are displayed as per a view range (A specific way of slicing through the model and viewing that slice). As you’re slicing through the model you’re also slicing through the stairs and thankfully for us there are some categories in the states that represent the area of this thing is above the cut.

For us the easiest way to show the stairs above the cut in a different line style is simply to alter the object styles (object styles control what model image looks like in general throughout the entire model) or we can override the specific view within the visibility graphics overrides to show the lights above the cut plane differently into the lines below the cut plane. We also consider that stays are not room bounding and that we should compensate for the air volumes in stairwells or model sloped ceilings to bound them instead.

If you need help adopting the AEC Collection or the Autodesk Construction Cloud in your practice or if you are looking to invest in hardware, please contact Micrographics so that we may be of assistance.
