Autodesk will update their BIM 360 Cloud Worksharing platform on 3 August 2019. Note that some updates might be necessary to your Revit installations in order to stay connected to your models in the cloud.
Autodesk will update Revit BIM 360 Revit Cloud Worksharing (RCW) from Secure Socket Layer (SSL) with enhanced Transport Layer Security (TLS).
‘Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0/1.1 is vulnerable to man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack that can compromise data exchanges’
The software that needs to be updates is listed here:
Please ensure your IT department pays due attention to the updates required.
Use your Autodesk Account or the Autodesk Virtual Agent (AVA) to download the appropriate License and Identity patch by August 3, 2019.
Most of the projects I see around me are the Revit 2019 platform. To install the necessary updates, do the following:
Navigate to these links and follow the instructions
- https://manage.autodesk.com
- https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-transport-layer-security-updates-require-revit-security-fix.html
- https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-transport-layer-security-updates-require-security-fix-for-revit-2019.html
On the ‘All Products & Services’, expand Revit and view the downloads for Revit 2019.
Go to the ‘Updates and Add-ons’ tab.
I recommend using the Browser Download option whenever downloading software or updates from your account and then storing the software for future usage (in case of a format or if the software needs to be installed on another machine). Use a filter to isolate the version needed and arrange the updates from newest to oldest.
It is best practice to temporarily switch off the PC’s virus protection and to set the Windows User Account Control to a minimum.
If you need help upgrading your platforms to function on the latest security update of Autodesk BIM 360, please contact Micrographics so we may be of assistance.
