One of the advantages of purchasing a full AutoCAD instead of AutoCAD LT is the ability to do a count of blocks. This count could be done through the data extraction function which is only available in AutoCAD Full. With the data extraction you could then take the information and either put it on the drawing via a table or export it out to an Excel or txt format.
The Count feature which was introduced to AutoCAD 2022 (full and LT version) allows both software to count the amount of blocks that you have in the drawing. As wih the data exctraction if any of the blocks are deleted or added, it wil update the count.
Previous users of AutoCAD LT did have the ability to do a “Block count” through the use of the quick select function but the Count feature really has enhanced the way AutoCAD handles this and it is much easier to use.
To access the Count command navigate to the View Tab and on the Palettes panel select Count.
This opens the Count palette. If you have any blocks in the drawing it will immediately pick them up and give a tally of how many blocks you have inserted into the drawing.
If you have inserted dynamic blocks which have different configurations, the Count feature has the intelligence to recognise the configurations belong to the same block.
The search bar at the top of the Count palette allows you to quickly filter through the blocks.
Once you are happy with the results you can Create Table and have the results inserted into the drawing which once again can be updated when you delete or add additional blocks.
