When we look at setting up Vault there is a few steps that we need to follow. After the installation of Vault server, Vault Client and Autodesk Vault we will have to create a Project and create the different file paths needed.
The First steps that need to be done, I open the Autodesk Data Management Server Conole app.
- On the left you will see the Desktop / or server details.
- Expand the Folder
- Right Click on the Vaults folder and select Create
This will open the creation screen, where you can specify the Vault details, for instance the Vault name and location stored.
After the new Vault has been created, you will need to create a folder structure on the workstation machine within the Windows explorer. This will be linked to the server, as you will create these folders on the server drive. Create the following Folders a Work, Folder and then subfolders, Content Center files and designs.
After these folders were created, you will need to open Autodesk inventor and create a new Project(.ipj), but ensure you select the Vault Project option.
After the New Project has been created, it is very important to open the project settings to ensure that the workspace file Path is setup correctly. Right click on the workspace folder, ensure the file path is set to the designs folder that was created in the Previous step. This will ensure that all the parts, assemblies and drawings created will be saved within that folder and that it is linked correctly.
Please read part 2 for the next steps to be done to setup your Autodesk Vault.
