Revit plan views are displayed according to the view range regions defined with reference to the associated level of the plan view.

When we have elements that appear above the cut plan and we would like to see them in the same plan view – and this is often the case with split levels – we need to use the plan region tool. The plan region tool allows you to define a boundary within which a view range of its own is defined within the confines of the planned view surrounding it.

Unfortunately, if you create a call out view that includes the planned region, the plan region is not copied to the call out view, and you will need to recreate the plan region within the call out view. This is something to remember.
