Many of us are used to modelling ducting and piping in Revit. Fewer of us have experience with fabrication parts, meant to represent a much more realistic representation of the services, their fittings and supports (for example, hangers).

This is required on some projects for the relevant level of detail, but it also represents an advantage in that the middleman can be cut out during the manufacturing process if one has access to the relevant automation machinery, software and computers).

While it is possible to convert ducting and piping to fabrication parts, it is not the case for electrical cable trays. You would need to design using the generic Revit cable tray families, then re-model the routes using fabrications parts.
