In a country where your standards are not built into the software, choose the international for the Country Settings when opening Advance Steel. I recommend you do not check the box to not see this setting again.
You can always access the toggle through the Management Tools
Go to the Import/Export tab and start the Revit Import Command.
Select the XMLX file that was exported from Revit.
When you bring in a model, any of the member section mappings that are not recognized are brought up for assignment in the database. Once the member section mapping assignment is made, an entry is made in the Country Database and is remembered from thereon. If another model is imported in the future the newly added member section mapping will be applied automatically.
Use the arrows to navigate the available sections, and if necessary, choose to see all the available sections.
Now choose the correct size.
This will repeat for each section, so it may take a while. In South Africa, search down till you see the SA sections.
The next time changes are made to the design, and the SMLX file is exported, you may then choose to synchronize.
There is even a filter that can be applied to the elements that are brought in. Once the selection is applied, the changes from the Revit model are applied to the Advance Steel model.
