Project Managers, I consult with agree that being able to navigate a model in 3D online using the Build license is important. The Collaborate and Collaborate Pro licenses have the Project Model available as a Federated model, while Build does not. Instead of having to buy a Collaborate license in addition to a Build license, is there a way in which the PM can navigate the model in 3D?
Build has access to the common file repository, Docs, and a special ability to interact with sheets on mobile devices via the Autodesk Construction Cloud App.
Here is the way to have a “Federated”/”Project” Model bailable to both ACC Build and ACC Docs users.
Publish the relevant views for the disciplines. Then go to the Coordinate module. Filter for the 3D views you would like to incorporate in the clash view (this will act like the “Federated”/”Project” Model)
Opening the models in the viewer.
Save the view.
You can even share this view with ACC Coordinate as a file.
After consuming the package, it is available to the other teams via their consumed folders. So in essence, the view is now a “file”.
This file can be opened even if you only have Build or Docs. In Build, you will be able to download and navigate the 3D model on your phone via the Autodesk Cloud App but you will not be able to create issues unless you navigate the model on the internet.
If you were to use a tablet or a laptop, then you could navigate the file via the internet. You will also then be able to create issues and snags on-site using this 3D “Federated” view in the Build Docs browser.
