Altering the Mapping on the Advance Steel Revit Import

SHARE

After you have set the mapping for Revit member sections when importing the SLMX into Advance Steel, the mapping is written into a database and stored there for the future. This will stay the case until the software is uninstalled and reinstalled, or the databases are overwritten with a database that does not include the mapping again. There is a way to delete the mapping by modifying the database, however, and we will look at that process in this blog.

Firstly, note that there are two database locations.

The Advance database has to do with the mapping from Revit to Advance Steel direction and is contained in “C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance\Data\GTCMapping2022.mdb” We will not concern ourselves with this database at this time.

The second database is contained in “C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance Steel 2022\INT\Steel\Data\GTCMapping.mdf”. We are using the “INT” database as this has to do with the International Mapping, which is set when Advance Steel is opened or when the setting is changed in the Management Tools dialog.

Open the GTCMapping database for editing.

Now highlight the rows in the Profile_Exports_Conversion and GTC_Profile_Conversion tables that contain the relevant mappings (they will be from row 22000 onwards) by using control and shift and clicking on the blue blocks at the front of the rows. Then right mouse click and delete.

After this Advance Steel should be closed as the mapping is still in the memory. When it is opened and the file reimported, the mappings will be cleared and the user can once again specify a specific mapping.
