This means that one may interrupt a current command (insert the filter command) by predicting the filter command using a single quotation mark ” ‘ “.

This is command transparency is a legacy of the days when we had no scroll wheels on mice and must zoom about the drawing using transparent zoom commands. One may define filters using the properties of objects and then save them for future use. There are even logical loops that one can nest within each other: AND; OR; XOR. Use the filter command when only logical statements will allow you to select the correct elements.
