In this video we discuss the fact that you need to export corridor feature lines on a road if you want to have the 3D curvature available to import into another file that requires this format.
We show how exporting a Civil 3D corridor as an XML does not result in an import that shows the corridor. We then create a set of feature lines for the corridor and export that instead. You also have the option to create the feature lines as dynamic, in which case they will adjust to changes made to the corridor. Just note that dynamic feature lines cannot be used to create surfaces.
This may be necessary If you need the curvatures for some detailed design, or if you are working with consultants who are not using Civil 3D. If everyone was on Civil 3D, then a simple data shortcut would be the solution. Usually, your BIM Manager needs to investigate all the software use on the project, and workflows adjusted accordingly. Otherwise, you might need to develop workarounds.
