There has been a change to how the “For the Field” folder is managed within the Autodesk Construction Cloud. On new projects, the Field is now incorporated into the Documents folder by default, while on older projects the folder may be moved. This is another indication that Autodesk is moving to a fully integrated cloud solution. Together with the development of the Tandem facilities management platform, Field moving to the Project folder signals a sea change.

The process to move the folder is straightforward. Click on the ellipses behind the “For the Field” folder and choose “Move to Project Files”. In a new project, the chances are that the Field folders will be dispersed. How this folder structure is managed is up to the BIM Manager. Proper consideration must be given to the implications of the file structure.

Choose the folder you would like to move the files to.

Note the warning. The action of moving the folder to the Project Files folder is not reversible. If you have permission to do this, then it is important to consult with any stakeholders to make sure it will not impact them. At the very least, one must inform them that they would find the files in a new location.

After you moved the files. They can still be managed using the Field module, and once the Sheets are published, they may be viewed in the Field Plan Grid mobile app as per usual.
