Autodesk Docs – Metadata Slip Sheeting

Slip Sheeting is an AEC industry term that is not always easy to understand as the term is not readily available for an explanation on Google.

When you use the ISO 19650 naming standard, the Major Revision and the Suitability Code are not embedded in the name. instead, these attributes are added to the files as metadata on the cloud.

Now consider that each upload of the file results in the file having a new version. This is not an editable field and shows the history of the file. Versions can be compared to each other on the platform and one can revert to an earlier version if one likes.

However, when choosing the version of the file, the metadata that was associated with the version is preserved. This is exactly right.
