When models start using phases and worksets to control elements in linked files, it takes a bit of management to coordinate across the disciplines. Add to that the extra step of working in the cloud then one will have to keep one’s wits about one to get the job done.
In this vlog we look at a very simple model in 2020. In 2021 the API has changed, and the Coordinate folder has essentially moved to the Project Folder Section of BIM 360.
Worksets and phases are created in the child models and assigned to elements when designing. The child models are then linked into the container model. Each model is placed on its own workset. The worksets that exist in the child models are also recreated in the container model. This allows us to slave the child’s worksets to the parent worksets if we are so inclined.
3D views are created to show the worksets as required per discipline and worksets. Both Phases and Worksets are isolated. These views are published to BIM 360.
