For new users of Civil 3D there are some new things to learn. On the plan production because the viewport layout can be automated, there are match lines that show where one view begins and another ends. This is displayed in the viewport on the sheet. When you are not used to this behavior, you may be surprised to see the match line using a mask, and sometimes this mask is a sold black color, which can use up a lot of ink. Below it is shown as pattern hatched.

To control the color of the mask and the hatch you need to edit the style of the match lines. You can get at the style through the properties of the match lines.

Now you can edit the style or duplicate one to make your own.

Match line style dialog open, go to the Display tab to edit the match line color, match line mask and match line pattern.

Another way to get to the match line styles is through the styles tab of the tool space. Select the style then right mouse click (RMC) to get the shortcut to edit or copy the style. You can then edit the display settings as before.
