On the creation of a Civil 3D Alignment, you are given the opportunity to apply a label set. If you do not, you may be forgiven for looking for the tools to add labels on the contextual tab that opens when you select the alignment. While this exposes a variety of properties and methods, it does not allow you to access an alignment label set to apply.
Instead, you need to select the alignment and right mouse click (RMC) and then select the option to Edit Alignment Labels. This allows you to edit the label set.
The alignment label sets themselves are editable from within the Settings tab of the Toolspace. Here you can choose what entities to label and what label style to use.
