Introduction.
A question from a customer came up on how to import an AutoCAD Architecture model into Lumion. In this blog we look at the process.
Process.
With the release of Lumion 10 a new feature is that the DWG Importer was built into the software so no additional addons need to be installed for the AutoCAD file to be imported into Lumion 10.
To test the import, I created a small AutoCAD Architecture 2020 model and saved it normally.
Here is a Realistic View showing the materials assigned.
In Lumion 10 I simply imported the model and the model shows up with most materials.
For older versions of Lumion prior to version 10 you’ll need to do the following:
In AutoCAD Architecture export the geometry to AutoCAD as below.
Also makes sure you have installed the DWG Import Lumion add in from: https://support.lumion.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007649393-Download-Lumion-DWG-plug-in
Conclusion.
The process is very simple for Lumion 10 as you don’t need to install any addins and the file comes in without any problems. For older releases of Lumion you’ll have to do some more work to export from AutoCAD Architecture to AutoCAD and then also to make sure the DWG Lumion addin has been installed to Lumion.
