How to Separate Users in Your ACC Team If you only have Docs

The Autodesk AEC License comes with an Autodesk Docs license. That means you have the full Revit license and a cloud platform to interact with. Now it is important to realize that while you can create central files using Revit on your local hard drive, it is not possible to access Co-Authored Cloud models on the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). You may, however, link Co-Authored models into your Non-Workshared Cloud Model.

The permission level you will need to link another Revit project into your Non-Workshared Model is the Create (View+Download+Publish Markups).

A user that needs access to the model directly from Revit to the model must have at least Edit (View+Download+Publish markups+Upload+Edit) permission as shown below.

Shown below is the strategy for managing the company permission. The user that is working on their model has Edit and the others that need to link the model to theirs as Create.

The good news is that Non-Workshared models can only be worked on by one person at a time. The lock symbol does not appear in the browser, but the Revit interface alerts the user.

The type of model that is being accessed can be seen in the Revit Home Tab. If you have an Autodesk Collaborate Pro license, you will see both Cloud Models (Non-Workshared) and Workshared Cloud Models (Co-Authored Models).

This holds even if you are only assigned a Docs privilege on the project. You will still be allowed to Co-Author models.

However, if you only have an Autodesk Docs License, the Workshared Cloud models will be hidden from you (even though you can link them in as cloud references and see them on a browser).
