Installing and looking at the Revit 2021 German library
Introduction
A couple of years back Autodesk announced that the German library has been updated with many new families. In this blog we’ll show how to install the content and we’ll also look at some of the content examples.
Installation
When you install Revit 2021 it only installs basic metric and imperial content. You need to download the libraries you require afterwards. In this case we’ll look at the download area and download the germen library. So please visit the download area: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-revit-2021-content.html
Normally we will download the UK Templates and Libraries but this time we look for the German content and download the 3GB German Library.
As you can see by the size of the German library and template its has lots of extra content. As in comparison the UK and Australian libraries are about 1GB in size each.
Once downloaded you can just run the file and it will self extract into the Revit content library location at : C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2021. Make sure you run the content files using the “Run as Administrator’ option as it needs rights to add folders to these directories.
Examples
Opening Revit and going to the load family area you can see there is many families in the new German library.
There are many different families in this library and I’ll just highlight a couple. There are many beds.
And seating
And even playpark furniture
And construction vehicles
And many other examples.
Conclusion
Using the German library, you can enhance your model with many additional content.
