A built asset is a complex thing, and many people are involved. While we may only understand one part of it, based on our role, it pays to have some understanding of the responsibilities of the roles we might interact with on such a project. Not only does this increase our understanding of the overall project, but it gives us respect and understanding of the responsibilities and the challenges our partners on the project face.
The PROCSA stages are roughly similar to the RIBA stages but are South Africa-specific, and give a clear outline of the responsibilities and liabilities of the typical role within the construction industry. While it may not be of specific interest to someone who resides outside of South Africa, the terms are ubiquitous and might serve as inspiration to anyone involved in construction out there.
