It is always a daunting task when one is confronted with a brand-new piece of software, and one needs to start using the interface. In this blog we look at some of the items you may not know and that might interest you.

Firstly, the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT). The QAT can be placed at the bottom of the Ribbon Toolbar so that the commands that are added to it can more easily be accessed.

When you are busy repeatedly using tools, add them to the QAT so they can be accessed easily.

Something that I did not know till recently, it is possible to switch off the Panel Titles. I suppose this is for those with small screens who would like to save on-screen real estate. This toggle is available when one right mouse clicks on the open space on the ribbon toolbar.

The result makes it difficult to guide someone to the correct command through the tab and the panel name and is not recommended in an environment where users are not experts.

Something that usually happens to a new users is that they click on the “Minimize to Panel Button”.

This changes the display of the Ribbon Menu drastically.

Note the ability to switch many of the graphic user interface components on and off from the View Tab.

Other parts of the interface can be switched on or off in the Options

Lastly, you can use the pyRevit app to minimize the toolbar tabs so your menu can reduce in size.
