Revit 2023 Cloud Material Library – No empty Categories

  • You must place a material in a category to save the category in the material library.
  • You might have to restart the Material Library interface to be able to create a new category.

Materials are vitally important to manage on a project because everybody from the Architect to the Mechanical Engineer and Structural Engineer depends on the correct appearances and physical properties to be present.

When you first create a new material library, it can be confusing. Now create the material library on the cloud, then you are throwing a new variable. I almost came to the conclusion that it is not possible to create a material library on the cloud until I experimented a bit.

I would recommend creating the material library in a limited-access library in which only those with permission are able to modify the materials. That is because the materials in links impact other disciplines. For example, the Mechanical Engineer relies on the material properties of the Architectural model.

As soon as you create a Material category, put material in it, otherwise, the category will not be saved.

The other thing you need to do is to create a common folder in which material textures are saved. Each person then needs to set a render appearance path to this folder for the materials to render correctly.

The same process can be followed with an Asset library.
