Revit 2023 -Managing Local Files

While there are many advantages to using central files on either local area networks (or removable hard drives) or in the cloud, some people still work on local files, necessarily so if they use Revit LT.

How does one manage these files? First one must make sure to choose the appropriate options when saving and to adopt a prudent archiving strategy. Whether you are saving on your C:\ or on a server, you must have a backup strategy. Also, each time you press save, the local copy will create a complete copy of itself and append a number to indicate it is a backup. This can quickly fill up your hard drive. If you want to change the number of backups that are being kept, save the file using “Save As” to remove the redundant backups.
