Revit 2024 – Labelling Materials on Sections, Elevations and 3D views

When putting together a custom library of materials like paint, for instance, one would like to be able to tag the materials in elevations views. It is a common practice for architects to draw walls layered only to the faces of bricks, and then to paint the surfaces with a different texture. This is because the builders work to the brick layer faces.

Thankfully there is a material tag that can be used to annotate materials in section, elevation, and 3D, but tagging materials on vertical faces in plan view poses a problem.

In addition to material tags, one can also use a custom keynote file so that the tags may be made smaller by noting the keynote number and filtered on a schedule by sheet to provide further information.
