Revit 2026 Toposolid Improvements

It was with some anticipation that I investigated the new topography tools in Revit 2026. The increase in points that one sets up in the .ini files makes a huge difference in how the accuracy of the surfaces. No more workarounds using Revit 2022 linked into later versions.

We show how Revit 2026 now handles the shared surface from Civil 3D as well as a super accurate DWG contour exports much better than in Revit 2025. Interestingly, Civil 3D linked surfaces are still the best option, and my only real complaint here is that they do not come with sidewalk and tar materials. In the case of large urban areas, I still prefer to aggregate the concept in Infraworks.

We also show that one can easily create subdivisions that behave much better. Be careful though, because I tested the capability on a file that I have been upgrading from year to year. It only worked for a new Revit 2026 file.
