To understand where the problems occurred, open the desktop connector. Right mouse click (RMC) on the icon in the system tray and select Pending Actions.
This lists the time and description of the action, and the files associated with it. If you click on one of the files, you will see the exception that is thrown by the Desktop Connector in the message description.
I modified the project (renamed the project and folders to something shorter) and repeated the process.
ROBOCOPY “C:\Civil 3D Projects” “C:\Users\pauls\ACCDocs\Micrographics Cloud\CO2\Project Files\COL\C\C3D” /E /J /COPY:DAT
Although fewer errors were generated, they were still present. The file path is too long presents no conceptual challenge – we have to shorten the file paths by some means.
The other error that showed up was that the Pipes.html file was not supported by the Autodesk Construction Cloud. This should then be managed in a way that gives others on the project access to the required .html files.
I wanted to make perfectly sure that the files that generated the error were indeed on the hard drive in the folder that syncs with the cloud. I followed the path to the file.
It was indeed present.
Now compare what happens on the cloud after the synch completes. Not only are there files absent, but also folders. Any file and folder name that is too long gets excluded, and files that are not supported are not uploaded.
In conclusion, then, it is possible to copy both folder structures and files into an ACC Docs project if you use the Autodesk Desktop Connector as the medium for syncing up to the cloud from the hard drive, and not from the web platform. It is possible that errors might occur during the synching process, and these may be investigated and fixed. When this process is completed, the team will have access to the folders and cloud by virtue of their Desktop connectors synching the files down to their hard drives. Although fewer errors were generated, they were still present.
