Circular Pattern in 2D sketch environment within Inventor

Using the Circular Pattern tool enables you to duplicate selected sketch geometry and arranges it in an arc or circular pattern.

In this example we have drawn 420 mm diameter circle. On the inside we have 150 mm diameter with a 290 mm diameter construction line representing a PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter), with a 50mm diameter circle on that PCD. Now we can use the Circular Pattern tool, to create a required pattern using the sketch geometry that has been create.

When selecting the Circular Pattern tool, the Pattern table will open where you will have the following Options.

  • Geometry: this will be the geometry you want to select to create the pattern.
  • Axis- The Axis you want to use to Pattern around.
  • Qty – will be the quantity that is required.
  • Degrees: will be the required degrees needed to from the pattern.
  • Suppress- Allows you to select the required entities that is not needed to be in the pattern.

Associative – when selected allows you to make a change to one of the entities being patterned while updating all the entities to the change. This allows the pattern to be associative. When not selected you can make changes to each individual entity without affecting the other entities.

After the geometry has been selected, and all the necessary requirements has been selected. The pattern would be completed.
