Creating a custom 2D template in Autodesk Inventor can greatly enhance your design workflow, ensuring consistency and saving time on future projects.
1. Start with a New Drawing
Open Autodesk Inventor and create a new drawing file. Begin by navigating to the “File” menu, selecting “New,” and choosing “Drawing.” This file will serve as the foundation for your custom template.
2. Configure Drawing Settings
With your new drawing file open, configure the drawing settings according to your requirements. Adjust the sheet size, border, and title block by accessing the “Sheet” tab in the “Format” panel. Make sure these settings align with your project standards or personal preferences.

3. Customize the Title Block
To add or modify the title block, right-click on the current title block in the Browser and select “Delete” to remove the default one. Next, right-click on the “Title Blocks” folder, choose “Define New Title Block,” and the 2D Sketch environment will open. Here, you can design your own title block by drawing and placing text, selecting font styles, and adjusting sizes.

4. Add Images and Logos
After setting up your title block, you can insert an image or company logo if needed. Go to the Insert panel, select “Insert Image,” and place your image or logo onto the title block. This step adds a professional touch and personalizes your template.

5. Save Your Template
Once you’ve completed your title block and made all necessary customizations, save your work. Go to “File,” select “Save As,” and then choose “Save Copy As Template.” This saves your custom title block as a reusable template for future projects.
