This final part will sum up the benefits of why you would want to synchronise Vault folders to Fusion Team Projects. If you missed the first 3 parts, catch up by using the links below.
To recap we looked at two scenarios where data had to be shared with other users, be they external collaborators or internal departments with limited access. As discussed, the data is shared by the way of synchronising Vault folders with projects stored in Fusion Team. This process allows for companies who are already invested in Vault, a local (on-site) server based data management platform, to expand data management to the cloud. Enabling easier accessibility of this data to other stake holders, not just the design and engineering team.
The synchronisation of files and folders can be done on a scheduled basis to ensure that the relevant data is updated in all locations. The direction of the sync can also be decided as explained at the end of Part 3.
Files can be synchronised based on file properties such as, material, description, custom iProperty etc.
By synchronising Vault with the cloud you are able to share files without having to give direct access to your internal network, be it a physical connection on site or a connection via VPN. This adds another layer of security between your data and external collaborators.
I hope you enjoyed this 4 part series and found the information valuable to you.
