A few years ago Autodesk had a website with the acronym AVA which stood for Autodesk Virtual Assistant. AVA was a virtual chat bot which could direct you to certain answers of questions you might ask or downloads of current or older software and if it was not able to assist it could put you through to a live chat where you would be assisted further by an Autodesk helper. This site disappeared a few months ago and was integrated into the education portal of Autodesk. This was not too bad but trying to find it the first time was not easy as you have to scroll all the way to the bottom and only then would the chat bot pop up.
Roll around AutoCAD 2024 and AVA has entered straight into your AutoCAD software. You no longer need to open a browser and ask for assistance from the Autodesk assistant, you can chat right in your current drawing session. At the top right of the screen you will see a new Autodesk Assistant command button.
When selecting the command a further palette will open and a few questions are presented as samples.
As you can notice from the above images depending on which Toolset of AutoCAD you are using, the sample questions will be tailored to that specific Toolset. The first Autodesk Assistant is vanilla AutoCAD and the second one is for AutoCAD Plant.
You can enter your query in the chat box at the bottom and then start to interact as you would in the previous Autodesk Virtual Assistant.
As you can see there are a few solutions and then if you are not happy with those silutions you can either show more or contact a support agent.
If you select to chat to an agent, depending on what plan you are on, you will have different options. Generally you will be on the standard plan and that will allow you to live chat with an agent or create a case using the traditional support avenues Autodesk has always offered.
Once again Autodesk is creating new avenues to get you the support that you need when you need it.
