Import Sheet metal Step Files

When you design in 2D or 3D CAD not every model is designed from scratch. If you are able to find a model that has already been designed and use it as a placeholder it makes work and getting the design out that much easier. For sheet metal it is the same. One of the issues you might find with sheet metal design is if the model has not been designed in your software package, then you have the prospect of not being able to create a flat pattern for manufacturing processes. Inventor is very good at importing CAD designs not native to the environment. In the sheet metal environment you are then able to assign materials and a thickness and unfold.
