Every year Autodesk pushes the boundaries by giving us more user friendly and efficient features in the software we know and love. Autodesk Vault is no exception to this love that Autodesk pushes out either at the major release, 2022 – 2023 or the minor ones 2022 – 2022.1,
When Vault 2023 rolled around it added some well received enhancements in the AutoCAD Add in. One of those enhancements is the ability to see how the AutoCAD file interacts with other files in the Vault without having to leave the AutoCAD environment. To access this feature open the xref palette and right click on the name of the file you are working on. If you have worked in Inventor with Vault you will immediately be familiar with this. Right clicking on the name of the file will also give you the following options.
- Get Revision
- Refresh File
- Check In
- Check Out
- Undo Check Out
- Change Category
- Change State
- Revise
- Show Details
- Copy Design
- Go To Vault Folder
The new feature is the Show details option. The below image shows the details panel sitting at the bottom of the AutoCAD window.
Here you can check out the History, Uses, Where Used,Change Order and Bill of Materials. Pretty much all the information you need to make a decision whether you can make a change to the drawing and not influence other drawings in a negative way.
