BIM 360 Building Ops is a BIM 360 offering relevant during and after handover of the building and BIM model to the owner / operator: http://www.autodesk.com/products/building-ops/overview. Following a query by a client I had the opportunity to get to know it a little better.

HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE PLATFORMS

As discussed in an earlier blog (), users of BIM 360 are best served on iOS platforms. Not all the functionality of the Apps are available on the browser e.g. Geolocation.

The browser version of Building Ops runs better on Microsoft Edge than on Chrome. It is necessary to add the IE Tab extension to Chrome to run Building Ops. I ended up running it on Microsoft Edge.

CREATE PORTFOLIOS

It is not currently possible to delete a portfolio, but it has been mooted in the Idea Station and should therefore be implemented in the near future. http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/building-ops-ideas/idb-p/254/tab/most-kudoed. However a request may be submitted to delete the portfolio in the meantime: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/building-ops-ideas/delete-project-portfolios/idi-p/6071417.

Multiple portfolios may be created. Access and select the current portfolio by clicking on the control indicated below.

CREATE BUILDINGS

Multiple buildings may be added to portfolios.

After the relevant information has been entered the building is created:

After the building has been created the functionalities of Building Ops maybe applied to it.

CREATE CONTACTS

Contacts can be added. Please note the contacts you add will be notified per email that they have been added to the Portfolio / Building. Contacts cannot be deleted only disabled.

Especially if various portfolios are managed then it might be easier to manage the contacts from within a .CSV file. The template for the CSV file can be downloaded as per the image below. Reloading a CSV file with fewer names does not delete the existing ones.
