Inventor 2018 is HERE!!!!

Okay so I am a little late to the party.  Inventor 2018 was released last week. There has been a plethora of articles on whats new Inventor 2018 (yes it is that great) so I am going to throw my hat into the mix and give my take.

Wow.  That’s all I can say.  So as I do every year I opened Inventor to see if there were any changes to the start up page.  No!! Good.  I am liking the new interface and I am glad that Autodesk has settled on a clean startup page.

I opened an empty part file and immediately noticed that there had been some changes in my browser.  They have tabulated the browsers.  So with a click of a button I can activate the ilogic browser.  It also doesn’t take up a lot of drawing real estate.

Old Browser system:

New Browser system:

This is way quicker than having to go to your manage tab and then click on the ilogic browser button.  I like flicking back and forth from model browser to ilogic browser and if I do need both to be visible at the same time you can just drag and drop either browser out of the tabs and dock it on the right hand side of the screen or on your other screen/monitor.  In the assembly environment they have made provision for the electrical catalog browser, ilogic and also representations.

You also don’t have the drop down anymore to switch between assembly and model modes.

Thus saving you time because I can’t ever seem to click on drop down arrows the first time.   Good on you Autodesk!!
