Inventor 2022 has a new simplification tool which replaces both the Shrinkwrap and Shrinkwrap substitution command. It can be found on the assemble tab.
It has also been placed onto the new property palette which can free float or dock into the left or right hand side of the Inventor window.
The property palette reads from top down so it is very easy to make sure that you have not missed out anything when navigating the command. If you have missed out or put in a wrong input then, it will highlight with a red warning symbol next to the incorrect input.
From the top, the input section allows you to select a model state that you might have created as well as a View or Position.
The second section allows the creation of circular or rectangular envelopes to replace and protect IP of certain components.
The third section of the properties palette allows you to exclude objects by either selecting parts, or subassemblies as well as including showing the visibility of the excluded parts by turning off all the visible parts for the simplification.
The third section of the palette allows the removal of the following by either removing all of them or by size.
- Hole
- Fillet
- Chamfer
- Emboss
- Tunnel
- Preserve -also allows preservation of features that are deemed important
The final section is for output. You can save as a substitute part, new part or a Revit file (new). A name is also created here as well as where you would like to save the part.
