Inventor supplier content online

Finding ready made content/parts/assemblies is a never ending battle when it comes to 3D modelling software.  In fact any design software, both 2D and 3D.  When starting with a new drawing package the first thing you think about is template creation.  When creating templates you need to think about linestyles, colours, materials, appearances and the list goes on.

In Inventor you have the content centre for standard library parts.  This consists of your nuts, bolts flanges, structural beams and columns , as well as components for molds (cooling components, ejector pins etc), tube and piping (valves, tees, elbows etc) and cable and harness components (discrete wire, ribbon cables)

These library parts can be filtered out by standards.  The Standards available in the content centre are the following.

  • AFNOR
  • ANSI
  • AS
  • BSI
  • CNS
  • CSN
  • DIN
  • GB
  • GOST
  • IS
  • ISO
  • JIS
  • KS
  • Parker
  • PN
  • SFS
  • SS
  • STN
  • UNI

Now these standards are great but what if you need manufacturer content?  Inventor has you covered.  They have the following straight out the box.

  • DME
  • FUTABA
  • GENERIC
  • HASCO
  • LKM
  • MISUMI
  • NSK
  • Parker
  • PennEngineering
  • PUNCH
  • RABOURDIN
  • SIDECO

These manufacturers are mainly for the mold components in Inventor, but what if you need a manufacturer like FESTO?  They have you covered up to the point that an Add-in has been created which allows you to select the component that you want and it will automatically create it inside Inventor.  Pretty cool.  For more content you can access an online website straight from Inventor.

Navigating to the Collaborate tab, select Supplier Content and there you go.  Manufacturer content with native Inventor parts and assemblies.
