Fusion 360 – Units and navigation options

You have just installed Fusion 360 and are ready to create some amazing designs. You see a quick setup dialog box and think nothing of it as you are rearing to go and so you press Close as it is cluttering up your modelling real estate. You start working but your units are not set correctly and you are frustrated with your zoom and orbit controls. You have a fleeting flashback of being able to change both of these in the quick setup but how do you get it back or how do we now change these settings?

If you are reading this and have not started up your Fusion 360 then heed these words, go through the quick setup.

You will have the options to change the Default units to the following:

  • mm
  • cm
  • m
  • in
  • ft

For Navigation options you have the following :

  • New to CAD
  • SolidWorks
  • Inventor
  • Alias
  • Tinkercad
  • PowerMill
  • Other

If you have jumped the gun and closed the quick setup there is no need to panic. Click on your profile picture in the top right corner of Fusion 360 window and select preferences.

To change the Navigation settings select the General tab and cange the Pan, Zoom, Orbit shortcuts to your preference.

To change the unit settings, select te Design option under Default units and change to your preference.
