Autodesk License activation issues


I have many inquiries weekly on how to activate their software and in today’s blog I will try and point out what needs to be done and what cannot be done. Firstly, there is no serial number.  When you log into your Autodesk account, there is a serial number but that is only for Autodesk to track what software you have, what software it was upgraded or cross graded from and what it was upgraded to. This number does not get used anywhere.

Secondly everything is linked to the email address that you have. To assign the software to that email address, the Autodesk account administrator has to assign the software through the Autodesk account portal.

If you do not have an Autodesk account, the system will send you an email that requires you to verify your email address.  In my experience this email does not come through 90 percent of the time because of firewall restrictions.  If this is the case, go to the autodesk portal and fill in your email address and you will have the option to either resend verification email or forgot password.

If that does not work, ask your reseller for assistance. They have the means through the Autodesk Virtual Assistant to get an Autodesk employee to resend the email to you. I have done this a few times and it is very quick.

Once this is done and the software is installed a dialog box will pop up and you will be asked to sign in with your Autodesk account.

Once you have selected, you insert your email address and password and you should be good to go.

If this also does not work, make sure that you are signed into the Autodesk Desktop App that is normally what blocks the software activation but it is very seldom.
