Micrographics Tools for Inventor DXF Exporter What’s New

Being an Autodesk Application Engineer at Micrographics, I have access to a wealth of design software as well as peripheral software that enhances Autodesk software across the board.  Micrographics has been involved with enhancing the manufacturing line of software for  Autodesk Inventor with  Tools for Inventor

These tools have been available for many years helping Inventor users complete designs faster.

Today we are going to look at what’s new in the Inventor DXF Exporter.

  • Better performance – Scanning and identifying sheet metal components in assemblies is now quicker consuming less time to populate the grid for prep for creating those DXF’s
  • DXF Export version – You have the option to set which version of DXF you would like to export to
    • 2000
    • 2004
    • 2007
    • 2010
    • 2013
    • 2018

  • Export to STEP file – you are now able to export either the folded model or the flat pattern of the sheet metal part

  • Custom iProperty – You are able to display custom iProperty information inside the exported DXF.  This is in addition to the properties that you see in the below picture

  • Specify Font – You are now able to choose between the following font for your text to displayed in the exported DXF
    • Arial
    • Calibri
    • Century Goth
    • dim
    • Dosis
    • RomanS
    • simplex
    • Tahoma
    • Technic
    • txt
    • Verdana

  • Bend Line Edge Marks – You have the ability to specify the length of the bend line from the edge of the flat pattern.  This allows for the etching of the sheet metal part when taken for cutting.
